The United Hellenic American Society (UHAS) is organizing a Greek Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, March 26, 2023, in the center of downtown San Francisco at Union Square.
We have secured the Greek band “KYMATA” to begin playing music starting at 12 noon and expect the event to end around 5 pm. We hope the weather that day will be dry and warmer.
The invited dignitaries list includes CA Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, CA Assemblymember Diane Papan, SF Mayor London Breed, Metropolitan Gerasimos, Consul Generals of Greece and Cyprus, and others.
Given that this is an “open-to-the-public event”, and that some of the 100 chairs and tables may be taken up by others, we recommend that folks “consider” bringing their own food, tables, and chairs for sort of a picnic atmosphere. There is ample parking right under Union Square and there are elevators that make it easy to transport items from the car to the square.
